Brightlingsea Harbour Facilities

Boat Park

Dinghy storage is available in the Boat Park in either hard standing spaces or racks. Please complete an Application Form (available on our downloads page) and return it to the Harbour Office to join the waiting list for a space.

Fresh Water

Fresh Water is available to visiting boats from the end of the Colne Yacht Club Jetty. There is also a tap at the top of the Town Hard.


Diesel is available direct to vessels from our Fuel Barge located adjacent to the Pioneer Sailing Trust at Harkers Yard. Please contact the Harbour Office to make arrangements to purchase fuel and to check current prices. Please note fuel will be unavailable 8th May until 13th May.

Launching and Town Hard

BHC runs the hard as an agent of Brightlingsea Town Council. Charges are agreed by the council for each season which starts on 1st April.

Fees should be paid to the Hard Master or other Harbour Staff if the Hard Hut is unattended. Vessels may also lie on the Hard by arrangement with the Harbour Office. The schedule of fees for the Hard can be accessed on our downloads page.

Laundry Facilities

Laundry facilities are available in the Wreck House. At a cost of £3 for a wash and £2 for a dry, keys to the facility can be obtained from the Harbour Office during normal opening hours.

Maintenance Posts

The maintenance posts located on the Town Hard are available for use by both visitors and residents by prior arrangement with the Harbour Office. Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis at the Harbour Office.

Sewage Pump Out System

Brightlingsea Harbour has a sewage holding tank pump out system available for boat users. It is located adjacent to the Fuel Barge and can be used by arrangement with the Harbour staff. Please speak to a member of Harbour staff or contact the Harbour Office for more details.


Showers are available for visitor use at the Colne Yacht Club. When the club is closed the faciltiies can be accessed via a door at the rear of the club which has a punch code lock fitted – the code is available from the Harbour staff.


General waste should be placed in the wheelie bins within the Boat Park, where there is also an oily waste tank. There is limited capacity for accepting other waste. BHC waste management plan is available to download.
